Frequently Asked Questions
What video formats are supported?
The tool supports any video format your browser can play, including MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP8/VP9), MOV, OGG, and more. MP4 is the most widely supported format across all browsers.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens 100% in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm). Your video never leaves your device. No data is sent to any server.
Does removing audio reduce file size?
Yes, typically. The audio track accounts for a portion of the file size. The output video is re-encoded without any audio data, resulting in a smaller file. The exact savings depend on the original audio bitrate.
Can I also trim the video while removing audio?
Yes! The timeline handles and time inputs let you set a trim range. Only the selected portion will be exported — with the audio removed. This is great for cutting and muting in one step.
Will removing audio affect video quality?
No! The video stream is copied directly without re-encoding (using FFmpeg's "stream copy" mode). This means zero quality loss — the output is bit-for-bit identical to the original video, just without the audio track.
What if my video already has no audio?
The tool will still work — it simply exports the video as-is (video only). The audio status indicator will show "No audio track detected" if the video has no audio.
Is there a file size or duration limit?
There is no hard limit. Since the tool uses FFmpeg's stream copy mode (no re-encoding), processing is extremely fast — even a 10-minute video can be processed in just a few seconds. However, very large files (over 2GB) may cause memory issues in the browser. For best results, we recommend files under 500MB.
