Frequently Asked Questions
What video formats are supported?
The tool supports any video format your browser can play, including MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP8/VP9), MOV, OGG, and more. MP4 is the most widely supported format across browsers.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens 100% in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm). Your video never leaves your device. No data is sent to any server.
What is the maximum video size I can crop?
There is no hard limit. Since the tool uses FFmpeg WebAssembly for processing, cropping is much faster than real-time playback. For best results, we recommend files under 500MB.
Can I crop and change the aspect ratio at the same time?
Yes! Select an aspect ratio preset (like 9:16 for TikTok) and drag the crop box to choose which part of the video to keep. The output will be exactly in the selected ratio.
Will cropping reduce video quality?
The video is re-encoded using FFmpeg at high quality settings. Output quality is excellent and very close to the original. The audio is preserved with the original quality (stream copy).
Why does the output format only show MP4 and WebM?
These are the most widely used web video formats. MP4 (H.264) offers the widest compatibility across devices and browsers, while WebM (VP8) works well for web use. FFmpeg handles the encoding efficiently in your browser.
Can I use free-form cropping without a fixed ratio?
Yes. Select "Free" mode to drag the crop region to any custom size without aspect ratio constraints. You can crop to any arbitrary rectangle.
